Ten members of Eastern Christian School’s staff completed an intensive two-day course this week offered by the New Jersey State Police and received certification in Multihazard Emergency Planning for Schools.
The EC team was joined by numerous county and local police, fire, EMS, and emergency management personnel for the course, which covered school emergencies as diverse as armed intruders, bomb threats, fires, hazardous material discharges, infectious diseases and natural catastrophes. The class also provided the EC team with an opportunity to review the school’s emergency plans with local emergency officials and discuss modifications and improvements in the plans.
The agencies presenting at the course, which was held in Wyckoff, included the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Bernardsville Police Department, various units of the NJ State Police, and the NJ Department of Education.
The county and local agencies participating in the class with the EC team included the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management, Midland Park Police Department and Office of Emergency Management, North Haledon EMS, Fire and Police Departments, Passaic County Office of Emergency Management, and Wyckoff Police Department.
Eastern Christian School sincerely appreciates the strong commitment that our local, county, and state officials have made to the safety and protection of our students and staff and the time and resources made available to us by so many agencies in completing this important professional development opportunity.
