Eastern Christian School announced today that Barry Veenstra has been named interim Athletic Director for the 2014-15 school year. News of this appointment follows the resignation of former Athletic Director, Steve King, on August 8.
Veenstra has been a member of Eastern Christian High School’s faculty for 27 years and an EC coach for 32 years, during which time he has coached soccer, basketball, and softball at both the high school and middle school levels. His many accomplishments as a coach include his leadership of EC’s State Championship Girls Soccer Team in 2007, numerous state and county tournament wins in soccer, basketball, and softball, and several Passaic County Coach of the Year awards.
Eastern Christian’s Executive Director, Tom Dykhouse, said, “We are very thankful to have an individual of Barry’s vast experience and capabilities step in to lead our athletic program at this critical time in the school year. We are confident that he will do a fantastic job in working with our athletes and coaches in the year ahead.”
